About Us

Our Founding and History

Freshkills was founded by three people, whose love of CrossFit and community drew them together.

They wanted to create a space in which they could share the benefits that a CrossFit community can have on a person.

Our foundation lies in the importance of health, family, and friendships- and is the philosophy we aim to bring to our box.

Our Company Vision

Our mission is to help people become happier, healthier, and fitter through
a positive, strong, community where everyone is greeted by name, encouraged,
and coached in a clean and organized facility.


Our coaches are experienced CrossFit coaches who have competed in various CrossFit, and weightlifting competitions.

They train regularly and study the sport of CrossFit.

Our coaches’ experience and training allow them to employ various strategies to help you become a successful athlete.

Doug Dicks - Owner/ Coach


Doug has been a CrossFit athlete since 2012 and a coach since 2014. In the past Doug was a national level competitive cyclist. Shifting this competitive drive towards CrossFit, Doug has become a seasoned masters athlete and continues to compete in many CrossFit competitions at a very high level.

Libby Elias - Owner/ Coach


Libby has been a tried and true CrossFit athlete since 2014. Her journey began while she was instructing Zumba classes at a local church. Her boyfriend (now husband) introduced her to CrossFit, and while she was certain this was something she was not going to enjoy, she told him she would go “try it out.” It doesn’t take much explaining to see that Libby fell in love with CrossFit almost instantaneously.

About one year later she started coaching and began her first attempts at competitive Olympic weightlifting. With a full-time career, husband, and toddler by her side, Libby has since had the opportunity to compete in local and regional CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting competitions, in addition to venturing into opening a CrossFit gym with her partners and continuing to coach.

Libby hopes to help everyday people like herself find the passion for CrossFit through the bonds of community, family, and fitness.

Anthony Pieters - Owner/ Coach


Anthony has been a CrossFit athlete since 2013 and began coaching in 2015.

Anthony was drawn to CrossFit because he wanted to try something different from the standard gym routine. Since he stepped foot in a CrossFit facility, he knew that this was going to be a great experience and his preferred method of working out.

Anthony’s focus is to indoctrinate movement virtuosity in his athletes by enforcing firm movement standards.

Daniel Caputo -Coach


Dan has been a CrossFit athlete since 2010 and a coach since 2014. Having been a competitive swimmer, Dan is no stranger to rigorous training and has naturally gravitated towards CrossFit. He is currently a member of the FDNY.

Frank Napolitano - Coach


Frank has been a CrossFit athlete since 2012 and is now instilling the knowledge he gained throughout those years in our CrossFit Freshkills athletes.

Having once been an NYPD officer, and currently a FDNY firefighter, Frank sought out a way to increase his fitness level to match the demands of his job. He started doing CrossFit type workouts at a “globo gym” while getting in shape for the Police Academy. His then girlfriend now wife bought him a month of CrossFit classes for Christmas that same year.

Once inside an actual CrossFit gym, he realized he had no idea what he was doing and he was lucky he didn’t kill himself but he also realized that CrossFit was for him.

Fred Capetta


Fred has been a CrossFit athlete since 2013 and is now using his experience to help our members. Fred is a long time Travis native and is currently in the FDNY.

Vincent Lombardi - Coach


Vin has been a sports fan most of his life, playing on baseball and basketball teams since he was a child. In 2006, he was introduced to body building and shortly thereafter was introduced to CrossFit. Now Vincent shares his passion for sport and fitness teaching physical education in a public elementary school by day, and coaching at night. Vin brings a fun, competitive vibe to his classes and looks to inspire others to be their best.

Jennifer Felker - Coach


Jen has made health and fitness a priority in her life for the past 13 years. In 2016, she stumbled upon CrossFit and it has since become her passion. CrossFit has helped her to build both physical and mental strength, which supports her through life in so many ways as she balances motherhood and a full time career. Jen looks forward to her time spent at the gym honing her skills. She’s excited to pass on all that she has learned to those who walk through the doors at Freshkills.
